Stephen Press
I?d love to try out the off road handsfree on the sideline. There would be a few problems to iron out, like having a clear run along the sideline without people stepping in your way or not tearing up the pitch or catching your cable or players running into you and injuring themselves? just to think of a few but the speed you could get to stuff would probably make it worth trying. Premium Members Guido Lux Posted June 27, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2006 Stephen! I will do some testing with my handsfree on the sideline after the WC! I won't do it with a wired camera though! In general we use wireless cameras anyway,so that souldn't be any problem! I think I will try the regular wheels first because they won't tear up the lawn at all! Then I will have to clean out my path and let people know what I will be doing...! I will definetely let you know how it went! Guido "I'll run everybody over" Lux

Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted July 3, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 3, 2006 It was an unfortunate end for us at the World Cup too - once again being put down the emotional rollercoaster! Getting back on the subject, what rigs are being flown out there? Front mounts/back mounts? I've noticed a couple of the guys have Hummingbirds on the rigs - how have they been doing with the sun? It must be hot work over there for the operators too...
Premium Members Nick Bennett Posted July 4, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 4, 2006 As a point aside, I've also noticed at least two ARRI 35mm cameras filming most matches, from the touchlines, on sticks. Impossible to catch the actual camera type from the fleeting glimpses you occasionally get, but interesting to see. Stand out like anything alongside the ENG guys and stills photographers! The 35mm Arri cameras are shooting match footage for the forth coming films in the Goal series that was funded by FIFA, I saw them when I was pitch side for the Coca Cola 3D film. Anthony Violanto
I noticed during the final italy v. france match they decided to finally go with an RF transmitter for one of the steadicam ops. I didn't see one hit. The shots were pretty amazing. Also, the skycam that would enter the stadium was out of this world!!! The most dynamic skycam shots I have EVER seen. Anyone know if it was a skycam, and if i'm not mistaken, was that also invented by Garret Brown? Congrads Italy!!
Marcin Brauer
I have also noticed a steadicam with 3D setup - looking more or less the same as Alec used a year ago or so in NY park - the topic was called something like "walk in a park"... I have seen it after the Italy received the Cup and were running around with it. Anyone else seen it? Anyway can someone put some more light on this - what was it used for etc. - Guido? Premium Members Nick Bennett Posted July 11, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 11, 2006 The Steadicam with the 3D rig is for the Coca Cola 3D film, I was operating it during most of the world cup and during the Italian celebrations. We shot fans arriving at the grounds and POV's walking into the stadiums etc. It's two modified Panasonic HVX-200's on a rig that allows convergence adjustment, I was using my new MK-V rig with a Silverspring arm and WK harness, got some nice images. I'll post some pics when I get them. Nick Bennett
Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted July 12, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 12, 2006 It looked more like the ACS wirecam, 'Camcat' to me - it looked like one of their white Wescams from the occasional glimpses we had of it from the pitch level.
