Do you have "rig raingear"?

Another thread perked my interest about rain covers. I talked to the guys at PortaBrace today to see if they would be interested in designing custom raingear for my rig, and they said they would consider it (depending on the demand.) I also talked to the folks at Camera Essentials about the same thing (I know they already have designed some stuff.)

 

I'm curious to see how many of you have raingear for your rigs?

? Does it do the job?

? How well does it interface with the camera's rain protection?

? If you were re-designing your own, is there anything you would add/change to improve it?

 

I hope this turns into an interesting discussion.

Got mine from Camera Essentials and it works just fine

I also have Camera Essentials gear, which is backed up with clear polythene bags and shrink wrap for the camera, when a camera rain cover isn't available. So long as you have the base of the sled / monitor covered, and covers for your arm, the top of the sled is usually protected by the portabrace or raincover on the camera. I tend to add some plastic wrap to any other bits that aren't covered, but usually everything works fine as it is. I'd reccommend the Camera Essentials gear, very well made. Portabrace covers (i.e camera covers) tend to be a bit more heavy / bulky than we require - as lightweight as possible is good!

I just got this letter from Red-Black Marine, from Australia. They make custom raingear. Until now, as i can see, for camera's mainly, but they might do something more.

Maybe most of you know this but,

 

At Cinegear, I saw an arm with goretex mountaineering gaitors fitted (Mountain Hardware?), one on each section. I was really impressed by the protection offered. Got the 'the look' too!

for your arm just get a nice pair of gaitors... they are cheap and work fine.

 

as for your camera and rig the best you can do is get a bounch of clear plastic bags and clips.. it works better that any custom made raingear and it is the way ir gets normally done in Vancouver... and believe me: IT DOES RAIN in Vancouver.
