Premium Members Benjamin Treplin Posted September 23, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 23, 2006 A rickshaw setup I used for the first time last year. It is the first version I built. In the meantime, I added a caster wheel, a seat, chest pad and beefed up some parts. It is a replica of Larry McConkeys rickshaw and really fun to ride. Many thanks to Larry for the help and tips he granted.

Premium Members Dave Thompson Posted September 23, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 23, 2006 I built this as a "running" rig for the movie I start on Monday. It was done with the help of a conversation with Chris H. about his lite weight rig. Dave Thompson, SOC

Matt Burton
I had one made, used it twice... collecting dust in the moment (sold my superpost). Did you not got much chance for high mode Erwin ? Just interested if many directors would even ask for it and if you offered it up that much. -matt
Brett Manyluk
Did some 3D-HD a little while ago. THAT was uncomfortable. A rat's nest of cables that made it almost impossible to move, a very high CoG, and Japanese technicians (though very nice people) who HAD to adjust the convergence of the lenses while you held the shot (They had to see what the frame was). An interesting experiment resulting in "really smooth handheld", but not one I'll likely repeat in that configuration. I had a full post, gimbal all the away up, and 4 batteries going to balance that mass on the top. Then they stick me (6'6" 250lbs) and that "thing" in a small hallway with a low ceiling and even lower doorframes. Anyone else had fun with one of these setups? Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted October 24, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 24, 2006 Hi Job, Sorry for the delay in answering. No, the cable is not for sale. I found that cables don't make good re-sales and you can never have enough of them... So I'll keep it for that rare odd ball shot... Hey Matt, I'm in that wired nether-world of low and medium budget productions, they have money but don't really want to pay for any extras... like the Super Post or Gyros, etc. So why throw in something for free that they won't even appreciate. Also every time they asked for it and my answer of 10 minutes rebuild resulted with "no we don't have that kind of time..." and letting me sit around for 30 minutes to discuss the alternative, also 99% at the time it is solvable with my regular post lengths... (I have ape size arms). The other option is a multi stage center post, but the weight/lengths/vibration ratio is a turn of for me. I have a very short center post (16 inch) and a very solid and heavy rig (Ultimate) to begin with... Some time in the future. Matt Burton
Hey Matt, I'm in that wired nether-world of low and medium budget productions Ha I'm in the wired nether-world of low to none exsistant productions, I think it's called the north of England  It's a shame about the super post though, I love to see it done well. Perhaps one day my luck will change and I'll have a super post all of my own, and when I do i'll just get a tilting top-stage and keep the post fully extended all the time. I'll be known as 'super post Matt' I can see it now ...... :o
Premium Members Imran Naqvi Posted November 17, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 17, 2006 As you can see this is my first time out with my new base, on top I have a Varicam with the Miranda downconverter which despite warnings played nice almost the whole day! Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted November 17, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 17, 2006 Gents-- Here is a look at my rig in low mode with a Pan Arri 235 sporting an "E" series 35mm anamorphic while on the Action Unit of I Am Legend in New York. Lots and lots of running in low mode has made my love the 235! Everyone should have one for their kit! Best, Brant S.
