Steadicam Post Clamp Broke :(

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've recently purchased an old Steadicam Tiffen Pilot and the metal clamp for the post has managed to break. I think I went over the weight limit as I heard a snap. Anyways, I tried using strong bond superglue to see if that would work, it almost did until... it didn't. What can I do? I've contacted Tiffen but because it's discontinued, they don't have any additional parts.

Any suggestions?

Ouch!! There would have to be a LOT of weight to do that. Even with a Vmount battery, you would still be safe for the bottom stage. And considering the Pilot is about 17 years old and those clamps are cast aluminum it could be due to age?? But if it was hit in just the right place that thing could snap easy. I've discontinued my Pilot as well!! Haha!! Did the set screw shear right through the carbon fiber?
