Hey all,

My wife and I have been back and forth on a huge life decision to move from Canada to somewhere in Europe. We are thinking Spain (somewhere near Barcelona) but I have no connects in Europe so I have no sense of how busy it is over there. I’m looking to get some insight from a few of you to give me a sense in there’s enough steadicam / traditional operating work over there.

and insight from y’all will help!

thanks

Not as competitive and oversupplied as London. I've DoP'd a few times in Spain and the good guys are always double booked and the newer intake seem far busier than London.

I will say that my interpretation of Spain is there is a larger portion of service work than London so service production companies and producers are more valuable to chase as the low hanging fruit than directors and DoPs .

Good Luck

It very crowded. Very competitive market and hard to get jobs. that is all I can tell you.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I see, that seems to be the case in most areas where film making is prevalent

well at least germany is,we lost like 70-80% of production volume in the last 2-3 years to service productions abroad, mostly eastern europe and atm austria, which will collapse as soon as they update their funding rules
