A Question About Ted Churchill

I had this vague memory of being told that Ted Churchill was one of the hand-held cameramen at "Woodstock" who shot a lot of the stage performances.

It's not on his IMDB. Anyone know definitively if this is b.s. that was passed along, or if he really did do some of the shooting.

Best to all,

Peter Abraham

Excellent, thanks.

Now, if a train leaves the Santa Ana station heading northwest towards Chicago at 62mph, and at the same time another train leaves 30th Street Station in Philly heading south for Atlanta, what was the pin configuration for the early MovieCam Compact bodies that got switched to 24 volts?

:D

(Bonus points if you can identify the difference with Hand-Held Films bodies opposed to every other freakin' body out there..... )

I think it was

pin 1 (-)

pin 3 and 4 (+)

but pin 4 kept breaking off

If memory serves... I think HandHeld had it set for :

pin 1 (-)

pin 2 (+)

I do remember having to build a cable that was set up for:

pin 1 (-)

pin 2, 3, 4 (+)

That's easy: White wine (dry) with lobster bisque;)

See you at the seminar.

Ted talked about what it was like being at Woodstock when we were hanging out once. Miss that guy. I always wonder if things might have gone differently If I was just in the right place at the right time.Life doesn't work that way. He really put the word "class" into Steadicam. Has anyone talked to his brother Jack lately?

I hear you Mark, I think a lot of us feel the same.

I was trying to see if I could find a working contact for Jack a while ago since no-one seems to have a copy of the "Day in the life of a Steadicam operator" video that Ted made years ago. Didn't have much luck though.

Speaking of old videos, we were treated to a wonderful surprise at the recent SOC event: GB had uncovered his long-thought-lost original demo reel from the prototype. Highlights include Jonathan as a tot rolling around on the lawn and GB's now-wife Ellen running the Art Museum steps (both up and down!) with GB in hot pursuit. Fascinating historical footage.

Hopefully this will be posted for all to see soon.
