Premium Members Marc Dunham Posted April 13 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13 I do Steadicam for live broadcasts sometimes and was curious what others do for a return signal to a smaller monitor. Do you provide your own system or does production usually provide for you? I’d love to have a return feed but production never has a tx/reciever system for me despite using things like teradek for my main feed. Curious what’s the protocol is usually for this. Pedro Silva
Hi Marc. I also do a lot of live TV. I usually use a cheap video transmitter, the Hollyland 4k. I put the RX on the steadi and the Tx on the PGM out signal of my focus puller operator's PGM monitor. Despite being cheap, this video transmitter has not let me down in open fields and is a great help as a return signal. It is also light and works at a frequency that does not clash with the HCAM, either the focal point or the focus puller transmitter. It's always better to have your own transmitter and monitor because productions never think about this need and don't have it. All the best Pedro
Premium Members Marc Dunham Posted April 19 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 19 Thanks for the insight Pedro! My AC never usually even gets a PGM Out feed but that makes sense and something I’m going to look into getting going forward. Makes sense though that the Hollyland would work since the AC is never that far away.
