Premium Members Paul Schoen Posted May 8 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 8 Hey Artemis owners, thinking about finally investing in a Volt. I own an Artemis 1 with 1.8" Post and generally like my sled, but the cost of buying Arri's Volt post for around 2500k seems insane. It looks like they just grounded of a few mm of the 1.8" post and sell them as 1.74" Volt post. My question is now, does anyone know someone in Europe who did this or maybe can point me in a direction which kind of workshop would do these kind of things? (Maybe Arri does this as well.......?) I'm giving free reign to my thoughts. Maybe it's a really bad idea in general, but I hate how everything in the camera/steadicam world just costs more by a hugh factor - especially Arri. I guess nobody wants to buy an old 1.8" post so, investing in a new one would leave me with the old one sitting on the shelf. Thanks y'all. Premium Members Adrian Grbac Posted May 9 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9 Hi Paul, unfortunately it is not possible as far as i know, as the post will be weaken to much in strength as the artemis volt post is designed in a different way than the 1.8" post. Cheers!
Paweł Traczyk
Paul, maybe instead of changing the post, change the gimbal? Betz-tools gimbal is volt-compatible (meaning you can actuall mount the Volt onto it, not change the whole gimbal as with ARRI) and around 5K euro (at least it was a couple years ago, installation and Volt kit was additional 9k IIRC). It's designed for 1,96" post, so should fit your Artemis post no problem with a spacer 🙂 Edited 4 hours ago by Paweł Traczyk
Paweł Traczyk
The other option would be the new MKV 2" gimbal that is also Volt compatible, however I haven't seen one in the wild yet. Betz-tools with Volt is however very popular where I live 🙂
