Premium Members JimBartell Posted January 5, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 5, 2004 Tim, Here are a few features the old board had that this one doesn't that I would like back: 1. Ability to delete your own posts 2. Spell check during preview before post. I spell great, but can't type for crap. Spell check was a great help. Tim Tyler
A user on the cinematography.com board suggested http://www.iespell.com/ I installed it on my workstation and I must say, it's kind of cool. Of course it's a Windows-only app that works in IE, but perhaps there's a Mac alternative. The ability for a member to delete thier own posts has just been activated. Premium Members Kareem La Vaullee Posted January 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 7, 2004 Under Mac Os 10 everything you type in any application is instantly corrected, on the fly, if you want it to be so, you just have to do a CTR+Click (or Right Mouse Button Click) on any word when you type for the first time in a new application, a small menu will appear and give you the choice to do so and even to choose in which language to correct what you are typing (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese are some of the many languages and dictionaries integrated in the fast, rock solid & user friendly Mac Os 10 System, natively) So nothing to ad, and it will memorize your settings for each different App... Anyway, for any computer if you don't have Mac Os 10 or don't want to install another extra stuff, you can simply type your post in your preferred word processing program (that should normally be equipped with a spell checking function) and then copy and paste your work of art in the new forum that I am actually getting familiar and happy with ! (after a few scary minutes, I must admit) Great work and thanks Tim ! Here's my first Post, hope it helped you... and Happy New Year to you all ! Fly Safe and Enjoy Life ! Premium Members Rich Cottrell Posted January 8, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 8, 2004 The best thing about the old forums of years past was i could get a daily e-mailed digest of all the previous day's posts. I now spend much more time on the internet. Thank god i have a high speed internet connection, but when i go on the road, i will no longer be able to visit the steadicam forum because i takes up too much time. I know someone has alreay cried this out, but too bad for 2004 we have to take a giant step back for the sake of a new improved look. now a moment of silence... for the steadicam forum digests. RIP 2000-2003 rich

RIP 2000-2003 I second that, this "New" Forum is a pain in the butt. The Forum now has become a LOT less useful now that e-mail is no longer an option. Premium Members Scott Mitchell Posted January 10, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 10, 2004 I agree the most useful feature to me was the email notification. I appreciate all the hard work Tim but PLEASE bring back the email notification if it is possible in this program. I find it takes too long to sift through all the threads here and way too long to "subscribe" to every new topic to get the email.
Tim Tyler
I find it takes too long to sift through all the threads here and way too long to "subscribe" to every new topic to get the email. You can also subscribe to an entire category. The link "Subscribe to this forum" is at the bottom of each category's page.
