I am considering replacing my master vest with a klassen back mount. A while back before I was considering I thought I had read about some potential problems with this combination. Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted August 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 28, 2006 Yes, we never actually came to any firm conclusions over this; in summary it seemed to be the differing angle and position of the arm in combination with the back mount compared with the front mount, i.e. socket block position, was causing the arm to lock up at the ends of the boom range. I'm sure it can be overcome, and I know that several guys use the Master arm with the Klassen vest and have no problems. Premium Members Guido Lux Posted August 30, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 30, 2006 I've been operating the Masterarm with the Klassenharness for almost 6 years and never had a problem!! July this year during a live show one of the titanium springs snapped!Rob Luna did a wonderful job repairing the arm and also put new bearings in!Now it works better than ever before!! From what I've been told the spring would have snapped anyway (it was one of the early arms) no matter which vest I would have been using!! He gave me that price after going over my arm and discussing what he saw and what I wanted. He has a set price list for different items but he can give you a more detailed quote based on his examination. I had given him a three week time frame, the arm was back in ten days with all the original parts he replaced in a plastic bag and he was within $56 dollars of his original quote. The work was first rate and I'm very happy with the arm's performance. I think Robert is in that select group of Steadicam vendors who truly understands customer service.
