Hello,

I was asked to shoot some scenes for a commercial inside a plane. i think its in the economy class of a 747 set. has anywone of you ever done a shot like that? i think it is quite narrow. i use a baerbel rig with frontmounted vest so i could be quite slim enough. i will check out the set soon.

camera will be a Sony HDW-730 with pstechnik adapter and zeiss lenses.

anyone a hint for me?

thanks, robert

Hey Robert !

I just did a shoot for Lufthansa in a VIP-737(one of those things people with too much money get for themselves when they get bored :P )

I do have a Baerbel as well and I can tell You it´s possible but You might be in pain!!!! the 747 is bigger, but You definitely should take some old foam-matrace with you to cover the arm.Just cut it into pieces as you need it and tape it to the arm.this will take the fear of damaging the aircraft interior away.

If you have a lite camera as for example a HD,you might even be able to do low mode if you use the normal post, with sushi-server and heavy batteries, because the 747 has a bit more headroom.

Walking through the plane is quite exhausting, because you will have to work quite far away from you body.

You might find it comfortable to walk sideways.(zick-zack)

The main problem might be the arm touching the chairs. If possible put them into a lower position.

Panning was not a problem for me,but it was painful.

If you need more detailed answeres ,just send me a message or better a personal e-mail (steadicam1@gmx.net ) because it might be easier for me explaining it in german ;)

Going to CINEC ? I´ll be there at the stand of Gripdepot !

1. in prep look into pulling seats.

2. Of course the seating by the exits has room for you to step in allowing talent to pass.

3. I've folded the monitor tight to the post and positioned the battery all the way in to fit into the halllway better.

4. Yes the front mount vest will be good here. as you will have to fly directly in front of yourself like going thru a very long narrow door, it's a big deal to get a light camera set up.

5. Schedule a massage for the next day!

All The Best,

TJ

Hi,

The steadycam takes in the plane worked out pretty fine, but it was pretty hard on the back. The takes were not too difficult so i was able to realize what they expected from me.

Thanks for your information!

Greetings, robert
