The most rock solid transmitter I have ever seen

Maybe its the size of New York locations, but where else would they be?????

Around the corner or waaaaay over there...

Okay I'll give you some help with the big and cumbersome part. You mount the transmitter in between your batteries, or shall I say,one of your batteries. In the case of my rig, I put two Aanton Bauer plates on the transmitter, one male one female. The transmitter is powered now by one of your batteries at the base of your sled. The transmitter is very light.

I just did a oner on a golf course beside Luke airforce base with a 100 yard plus walk and talk. The director sat at the village 100yrs plus and had a rock solid image with no freezes in the image. The barringtom Box that costs $80.00 was given to the sound mixer to put inline on his Comtex transmitter. The Barrington box gets set at 450 milliseconds of delay and voula... you have a very content director.

True, this is not the real- time answer with no delay, but the Barrington box makes this unit, at $2400.00, a must have in your kit.

But that's just my humble opinion.

I will second that the WEVI is fairly light and very reliable.

I bought one a few weeks back mainly because I could not justify a Canatrans expense and I wanted something that I knew would give a solid picture within range and I could slap on the back of a portable LCD or CRT monitor with having a bunch of antennas. I just clip the WEVI and batt on the back of my little marshal and hand it over.

I have used the modulus a bunch and it was so so. Have not used the Canatrans but I know it does the job well from folks recommendations.

I do almost exclusively documentaries on various DV to HD cameras and I am almost always in relatively close range to people who most of the time seem to care what I am shooting, but not always, and the audio delay is not an issue for them. They just want to have an idea what is going down on tape. When I need I will get the delay box.

Last week I did a gig for Discovery and we ran all over the place and had only one freeze up with the WEVI where I was about 50 yards away and there were a bunch of cement walls and steel in between. Other than the the whole day was just fine. I have 2 days next week for this non profit around DC and we will be using the HDX900 so I will let you know how that goes and then I have 13 episodes of a show to do with it in Jan-March. I heard that they will upgrade the WEVI to do HD but I cannot confirm that, hearsay. I use a Miranda or a AJA regardless.

I mounted the WEVI on my Clipper2 battery bracket with a battery and the little bit of weight was no big deal to dynamic balance and let me move my gimbal up a small amount.

For the money, I think the WEVI is a screaming deal. Like being plugged in, light, quick. simple, and 10 frame delay, but at least there is alot less "hey my picture is gone, no wait there it is, ok, ok hang on, ok I am good, no wait..."

cheers
