Premium Members Peter Abraham Posted November 4, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2006 This is for Tim. And, anyone else who may know about the Ads by Gooooogle vertical banner on the right side of The Steadicam Forum. Anyone know how to contact them, take out an ad that is targeted to the Forum community, and so on? I see DP websites, Basson system ads and so on. Anyone know the real deal? Best to all, Peter Abraham

When I set up the SteadiShots site, the hosting signup package included some complimentary ads on Google which is what you've seen on this site and perhaps elsewhere. Let me know if you've got any other questions about the system.

I see several operators advertising there and have been wondering how effective it is. Cheers Jason
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted November 20, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 20, 2006 Just a quick question - has it been worth while using it - do you get many hits from it? I see several operators advertising there and have been wondering how effective it is. Cheers Jason I guess it depends on how you define "worthwhile". I only pay when someone clicks on my link, not when the ad is displayed. The monthly bill for the advertising has been in the $16 range which translates into a few dozen clicks. Honestly though, I doubt that a single one of those clicks has been a producer, director, DP or anyone else specifically looking for a Steadicam operator. I know for a fact that I have never gotten a job by someone that just happened by my website. I do suppose it can't hurt. If it does nothing more than getting your name recognized, that is a good thing. Personally, I enjoy exploring the different ways to use the web, so I think I'll continue using it. $16 is not a great fee, and if it only gets me one job in 5 years, it is worth it.
