I had my Walter Klassen vest lost by UPS and it has been claimed lost by UPS. I got the insurance money but if anyone comes across a Walter Klassen for sale the serial number was 014 and I'd like to talk to the person who is selling it. thanks..

Yeah, I've had 2 things go "missing".

Once, we had an overnight package that didn't arrive for 5 days. We contacted the driver, and they said, "oh, yeah, I just didn't have time to drive down there." (It was being delivered to an office down a 2 mile gravel road)

I think it's the insurance coverage that helps things go missing. When you put the value at $7,000 for an arm or something, I think it helps people choose what to "loose."

But I think listing the value on the outside is the only option.

I am using FedEx from now on. but the value was only $500 on the UPS form because thats what the deductible is. I dont ever tell them what its really worth. I just get it insured for $500. I had my vest in a consumer black Jansport suitcase. It just looked like a regular bag and it still got 'lost'.

Brian,

Fed Ex has its problems as well. About a year ago I sent my Betacam in for repair and needed it back for a shoot. I kept checking the online tracking and it said it had been delivered. I called and they confirmed it had been delivered. But I did not have it! I checked the web site and the location where it had been delivered... turns out it was an office building about two miles from my house. I went there and it was just sitting in the back room. Fed Ex said oh gee... sorry..

Hi

Yeah FedEx screws up too!

I was doing an interview a couple of years ago. During the interview the person who we spoke to told us about FedEx loosing there "parcel" whilst going through US customs....... The thing being the "parcel" was a couple of ton Monster Truck......!

How in the Hell do you loose a Monster Truck it's not like it's a set of car keys?!?!?!?

I wonder if it's sat in some back room in an office somewhere?

Fed Ex mis-directed my sled case a couple of years ago and I didn't get to work the first day on the show.

Boy was I mad.

Since then, I always put the zip code of where my cases need to go on Gaff tape, on all sides of all my cases, in great big HUGE NUMBERS with a sharpy.

I worked at UPS right after a college as loader on the big trailers and I remember having to look at zip codes so I figured that might have had something to do with it. After loading package after package zip codes can start to look alike at 2 in the morning.

Haven't had an issue since but... that doesn't mean that cases can't disappear or get mis-directed even with that.

Just something I've done in the past.
