Premium Members Dan Coplan Posted November 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 28, 2006 BicycleSteadicam... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hZDJYzfUnU&NR I thought maybe, just MAYBE, if the weight of the camera found the sweetspot of the arm, this guy could get a reasonably smooth ride out of his contraption (PVC pipe and cheap springs relatively speaking). Nope! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNamDlvGC1o...ted&search= I can see posting the first video - "Look how clever I am!", but why on earth post the follow up video that makes his contraption look WORSE than if he just hard clamped the camera to the handle bars (which I've done to the satisfaction of very good results). Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted November 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 28, 2006 As a german speaker I had trouble to make sense of all the instructions... But I just realized I was operating wrong all this years... The batteries go to the front and the monitor to the back... I'll try that tomorrow on set... Sorry couldn't resist... Premium Members Tomas Szklarski Posted November 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 28, 2006 Hey Matt Burton, Exactly what are you saying is funny about the link you posted? That was a workshop I was at, it is actually one of Janice Arthur's workshops...I didn't post the video...didn't even know there was a recording from the workshop. But if you are making fun of the op....that was his first time putting the rig on and trying to walk. I don't think there is anything funny about that. I don't think anybody was perfect the first time they put on a rig. If it was supposed to be making fun of the guy shooting the video...I don't think he was wearing a rig, it had to be a cameraphone or something small. Why did you post the link...I don't think it had anything to do with Cybotcam or "seasick" cam? Maybe it does, but knowing the backround of the video, I don't think it applies. -Tom
Matt Burton
I was making fun (only a little) of the instructor as it seemed like he was telling the opp to fight a poorly setup rig ! Looking back perhaps I was wrong but I was certainly not making fun of the operator or the camera opp. Have took the link down anyhows as I wouldn't want people scrutinizing my early operating without my consent. Premium Members geoff shotz Posted November 28, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 28, 2006 i can't believe that this contraption really allows you to do those amazing pans and zooms like they were doing in the demo/example section. wow. really pushing the envelope there. i think ron is right, we should get them to shoot the next gathering. that would make my day. geoff
