Delfino Ramirez Jr
Hi all, Just did my first gig, a live music performance, with my system the other night. It wore me out by the end of the night out but I loved it. I was going to get an New Archer but I took the opertunity to get a used Master Series in great condition. I had purched the system over a month ago but bad timming with a foot injury kept my from flying it. Now I am up and running and have a fashon show on the 16th. I just looked at the victora secret show that was on the other night and noticed they had a motor controled camera by the stage which I will be takeing the place of on this show. My Question, Has anybody ever worked a fashon show with models on a runway and have any tip or pointers? Thanks, Del Again thanks for everything and keep your stick on the ice. - Red Green

Matt Burton
I know this sounds obvious but don't fall of the runway ! Will you have a spotter or are you shooting from below (that would be a nice angle) ;) The last fashion I covered was pretty hectic and almost none stop action, it's gona be hard work but with plenty of nice distractions. -matt
Premium Members Thomas English Posted December 9, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 9, 2006 pace yourself, each designer s show will be around 5 to 12 minutes. Make sure you know exactly how many shows your doing and make sure you can physically afford to do your full track for every part of each show. They walk very quickly sometimes. Remove everything you don t need from your rig even if you think your tough enough. the important part of the catwalk is the last third of the walk towards the end of the run way and the turn. You should concentrate on that but if you mess up plonk the camera on the entrance door and get the next person coming out. Don t bother with their walk away from the turn. Make sure with each designer you know if shoes are important. It is often acceptable in fashion videography to totally missframe the head chopping half off sometimes. I don t like this but it is often done, if you cut in don t go past the eye s otherwise take the whole head off. make sure you watch the rehearsal especially if your not on triax as the lighting changes could take you seriously by surprise, there is often no attempt for continuity colour balance or a stable camera stop even on the really big shows, the photographers are very good at winging it, although most lighting designers are more sensitive to the imagesmiths needs. Make your rig as long as possible without adding extra weight so your not just looking straight up and make sure you have a J11. what ringlight is that gordon? Delfino Ramirez Jr
Hi Delfino: What kind of monitor are you using? Best, Gus. Hi Gus, The monitor I am using is the 7" Widescreen LCD (602-7500) that Tiffen uses on the Flyer model. I just mounted it in front of my CRT, which still has a better image in sunlight and other applications. The cable running down in front is only so I can get framelines on the LCD otherwise I would connect onto the lower output, at least until I finish making a 9pin din to female 4pin adapter to just unplug from the CRT to the LCD. To answer some questions form others, The Ringlight is a Kino Flo Kamio 6 with a homemade rod mount that secures into it from one of the filter slots. The ballast for the unit is onto of the camera and is powered thru an Anton Bauer powertap. The system has been modified to supply true 24v power from two batteries with ?Watt?s Up? Watt Meter and Power Analyzers Take Care, Del B) Remember, I'm pulling for ya. We're all in this together! -Red Green
