Flyer Monitor in Low-Mode

Am I missing something or is something wrong with my monitor.

I have a Flyer and an HVX 200 which I am using inverted in low-mode with no bracket or cage, so the camera is upside-down.

On the Flyer LCD, I can invert the image using the UP/DOWN menu setting but the the image also needs to be flipped horizontal otherwise left is right and right is left when flying the camera upside-down. Really a brain-bender when moving through a shot.

There is a MIRROR option in the menu which would seem to be the obvious choice, but it has no effect.

The manual has no specific explanation of what the menus do. So is my monitor acting up or am I the one that's defective.

No you are not defective. I have a flyer and got an indie feature gig working with the redrock m2(which of course flips the image upside down) and the hvx200, and when it came time to shoot I got the same thing. Ended up taking the monitor off and flipping it upside down to make it work for the shoot. After a call to steadicam I found out that in an atempt to save money on the monitor, they a second input removed from the monitor and this resulted in the mirror function not working. Good news is they will fix it. You have to send it back to Steadicam, and they will put some chip in it. I got mine back and it works great. But I have to say I was disappointed with steadicam, b/c I remember receiving my steadicam and filling out a registration form, which said something like: Fill me out and if steadicam has any improvements we will contact you. I would love to know what happened to that peice of paper when it got back to steadicam. Guess I am a little bitter about the whole experience, but when you spend that kind of money on a rig, when the monitor's manual says it has a mirror function, and you get to set and look like and idiot maybe you have a reason.
