Always, when we setup the Steadicam, we put the receptor in the front of the Steadi, (and the antenna receptor looks ahead) but the focus puller always will be walking back of the Steadicam Operator, "far" from the receptor. There are some places where the signal is with a lot of interference, and the focus puller must walk near us in order to be a better signal between the trasmiter & receptor. In this case, is better setup the receptor looking back? Or always is better put the receptor looking back? I hope that the question is understood. Happy 2007 for all, Gus. I attach my Bartech on the back of my top stage for balance. I can get my monitor out further and I can keep my batt. close to the rig. Now, got to say, how can the assistant see where you are and where the actors are and keep everything in focus if he/she is that far behind you??? Unless extraordinary circumstances prevents it, your assistant should ALWAYS be pretty close to you or pretty close behind you with you and the actors always in sight. You should not be getting interference that way either. Check to make sure your Modulus is not too close to the BFD and that if you are using a panatape or cinetape, the tubes are above the mattebox. Take all of the other RF devices off the of the rig or at least turn them off and test to see the range of the receivers. If they seem to have very little range (if the light turns red when you are not too far away from the rig), it might mean that they need to be looked at by Jim.
