Premium Members JimBartell Posted April 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 7, 2004 Jim Bartell are you out there? Yes I am and I'm keeping my mouth shut lest I betray my woeful lack of knowledge regarding most things RF. Besides, all the RF book learning in the world is not nearly as valuable as actual experience using the gear in the field (which I have never done) so I yield the floor to those who have. Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted April 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 7, 2004 George: the higher the frequency, the more you have problems with obstructing elements, walls, reflections etc. Also, 2.4 GHz is full of data communications and security camera´s, and don´t forget our own Preston, Scorpio and Arri Follow focus sets. Therefore you will experience much more interference on this band. The difference between an aerial for 1,3 or 2,4 is neglegtible, at least in my experience. I use a cheap (made in taiwan) 1,3 GHz system that performs very well, considering the investments. It has no reflections nor other annoying users on the same channels (yet) so I would go for that. Also, my 0,5 watt transmitter is small enough to put on top of any camera, no weight issues here. Rob van Gelder, Bangkok, Thailand
Premium Members Thomas English Posted April 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 7, 2004 did u buy your 1.3g system on the net? i ve got this stupidly powerful 2.4g transmitter but im waiting for the day i see a soundman running about cluting his ear, scratching his head in some kinda blind panic or something like that.. so id like another dodgy kit on a different frequency. i bet u just bought it in your local shop, lucky... living in thailand... the land where getting a normal passport photo comes with free full on photoshop airbrushing and complete removal of those stupid flowers on your shirt. Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted April 7, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 7, 2004 The brand name here in Thailand is Fujiko, but a search on google reveals only a bondaged japanese porno starlett..... Anyway, they sell them here in great numbers and variations: 1.3, 2,4, I even saw a 5.0 GHz system. With or without camera, with or without LCD in the receiver, etc. 10, 100, 500 mWatt. I bought my system for around US$ 450 and another $300 for a LCD screen 5" with receiver. Rob van Gelder, Bangkok, Thailand
