Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted January 13, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 13, 2007 Gents-- I just heard this week that A/B should be coming out with a new high-current lithium-ion battery pack very soon. I will post more information as soon as I can. For me, this would be a great upgrade for my sled since I run with two (2) battery positions and would love to have two Li ion batteries and still be able to run a 435 or even a PFX Genesis. Premium Members Mark Karavite Posted January 15, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2007 Dear Brant, Who did you speak with at Anton Bauer? I asked Anton Bauer this very question prior to buying a new round of Dionic 90's a couple weeks ago. They told me that there was no PowerCube competitor on the horizon, and the Dionic 160's (along with their shipping nuances) were the only option. Do you have more specifics. Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted January 15, 2007 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2007 Gents-- I can't say exactly where this information comes from but I can say that this potential new item would be something just for the Steadicam community, not a general sales item. I got the feeling that this was something on a "fast track" [my ""] and something we could potentially see very soon, like in several months. Like Mark, I am faced with a new battery buy soon to handle both kinds of cameras. I have been looking at all options and have not as yet found a plan that I like. When these new A/B items hit the street, I want them. Most folks have a battery preference for their own personal reasons. I for one am not pleased with the potential need to change out mounts in addition to purchasing new batteries. Big current draw and high voltage startup demands are tops on the list for all of us but we are all wise to the need to standardize and simplify our technical systems so we may concentrate on creative challenges. Whenever I get my hands on more information, I will pass it along. My big question to the community, who wants 'em? Best, Brant "Watching the snow..FINALLY!" Premium Members Imran Naqvi Posted January 15, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2007 Me! I just rebuilt my base and stuck with AB's rather than switching to V-mount in anticipation of a competing product, so I'd be be very interested. Premium Members Christopher T. Paul- SOC Posted January 15, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2007 Count me in... I find that my Hytrons are a bit too finicky for my tastes, although I continue to use them in combination with Ni-cads to cover most camera systems. I'm also jealous of your snow, Brant. We haven't seen any here in NY this season. CP

Premium Members Lars Erik Posted January 15, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2007 Interested! Just got my rig upgraded to 24v. Have AB and will keep AB if they can compete with the PowerCubes.
Premium Members SergeiFranklin Posted January 15, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 15, 2007 I have mentioned http://www.a123systems.com/html/home.html to Anton Bauer. I wonder if they are looking into it. A123 looks like the most promising battery technology, fast recharge, high capacity, high amperage.
