Jean-Nicolas Dorion
I think I'm going to try this super 16mm camera on a master series for a short movie. Did anybody try this small and light Aaton camera? I'm a bit concerned about it's noise too... If someone have information or experience with that camera, it would be kind of you to post it! Thanks. Premium Members Bryan Fowler Posted January 25, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 25, 2007 Hi Jean, I've used the A-minima on a couple of productions. It's very light, and my EFP arm (blue springs) needed more weight. I ended up using my practice cage with it, and it helped bring it in the weight range. I don't remember having any noise problems, but I wasn't paying much attention to that. The Audio dept never complained. Because of the light weight, I used the camera batteries for power. Hope that helps some.
Jean-Nicolas Dorion
Thanks Bryan, I was already planning on adding weight... It's so light! I'll have to shoot some of the shots at 48fps so I'll have to use 24V... But thanks for your reply. That's a good thing if your audio dept never complained. I'll only have to get sound at 24fps so if the sound level was good for your audio guys... It should work with mine! Thanks again!

Jean-Nicolas Dorion
Thanks Rob, I think I.m going to be alright though... I just took a look at your reel. Didn't know you've been working on Jean-Jacque's Two Brothers. Very nice movie by the way and an awsome guy too. Cheers!
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted January 27, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 27, 2007 Yep, that's how I ended up here in Asia. JJ is indeed a special man, with a great vision..... and damn hard to work with! When you would see the credit list of 2 Brothers you will notice another operator too, almost at the top. He did however probably less then 5% of the Steadicam shots....but I am not French.... Correction: The operator in question is from Belgium, his French is much better then mine for sure.
