Modular 51

Recommended Posts

OK, so I've seen mention of the company Modular 51. The website shows a decent looking Arm Bag. Prices aren't too high. But there are no dimensions of the interior or exterior. I dont get any response from emails, does any one have a contact number for these guys? Or better still, does anyone have the case and can get me the interior/exterior dimensions? I'm trying to pack a Glidecam V-25 arm with my vest. Thanx!!

They offer great quality products, very impressive & durable. However, not the quickest to ship, as they manufacture products to order (or at least they used to - check this). This can mean it could be a while until you receive your order, no good if you need something quickly. But it's well worth the wait when you get your order - top quality.

Hi Christian!

The Modular 51 Arm Bag dimentions are:

Interior - 25" X 9"

Exterior - 26" X 10"

I have a 3A arm and it fits no problem in the arm bag.

I'll have to agree that it takes quite a while to get the goods once you order them, but it's worth the wait. I have the vest bag as well and I love both of them.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info!! I think this bag will do nicely! I think we have already searched out every cheaper alternative- we looked at rifle/pistol cases, trumpet/flute cases, pool cue bags, paintball gun cases, duffel bags, we even tried the carry bag for a folding chair! Thanks again, hopefully the order wont take too long. (Do we at least get a confirmation email when we buy or it ships??)

I too have a Modular 51 bag and it is great. Since they run a tad on the large size, I'm using a trick I picked up from Will Arnot which is to "double bag" my arm. My PRO arm bag fits nicely inside the Modular 51 bag (I leave the PRO bag open with the lid folded back so there is no need to remove it to get the arm out). This of course adds protection, but it also makes for a very rigid combination which is nice since I no longer carry my arm inside my vest bag (don't like the way it fits in a Klassen harness bag). This system is lighter than a hard case and sits nicely on my cart too. Obviously, for shipping, I place both arm and vest in hard cases.

Question about storing my arm - I have a bag from...Camera Essentials, I think?...which is essentially a tube that the arm drops in. I keep it in my vest bag vertically which means that the arm sits in the bag in a collapsed manner on itself. We're talking about a $10,000 piece of equipment that should be perfectly fine, but I still wonder about if I should get something with better support. Am I being paranoid? Saw a bag once that had velcro straps to hold the arm in place, but it belonged to someone else and was discontinued or...I can't remember but I couldn't find it.
