Focus rings....WHAT THE HECK???

I know this is a very small thing when it comes to price, but it's the principle of the thing. I'm going to fly a new HVX with a new M2 on my V-25 and I?ve been buying an arsenal of Nikon still lenses for it. I?ve tried to figure out the best way to get the gears for them (for a FF), so they A: work, and B: so I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off for a tiny piece of rubber.

Just to clarify: I don't mind paying $$$ for things that are worth it but really... it's just rubber people!!! See Below...

Anyway. I like the idea of the product on the link above. I would just like to take it a step further and buy a bunch of the actual pliable gear and attach it permanently to my still lenses instead of paying well over a hundred bucks for two pieces of plastic.

Soooo.... I'm trying to track down the source of this rubber "gear" and buy a whole roll. I know it's out there, since you know these guys didn't make it, and if one of us can find it we can save a few of us some money that we can then blow on other gear that's WORTH IT.

Any help is awesome.

My search continues....

Actually I have some of those Zacuto's focus ring and they are very good.

The piece holding the rubber piece together is made of machined aluminum

which is expensive to make. In this business, you always end up getting what you pay for...

Get the good stuff, in the long run it will save you money and headaches.

Thanks,

I agree that it's cheap, and it IS worth getting the best for your rig, but I own a shop where I am able to machine and weld aluminum and basically custom make anything I need following my personal taste and feel. I actually enjoy the hunt for these types of things... example: finding the source for articulating arms and paying less then half the price from the source then from Able Cine for the exact same product... what can I say...

Oh, and thanks Fabrice for the thumbs up on the rings.
