Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted February 18, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2007 I apologize if this is obvious, but for you guys that are incorporated, do you charge tax on top of your rental??? That would be the point I imagine... Thanx Dan

That would be the point I imagine... Thanx Dan I bill through a corporation for my equipment and I do not charge sales tax. The rule of thumb is if you paid sales tax when you bought it, you are not required to charge sales tax. In California, if you have a re-seller's permit which you can get by registering with the State Board of Equalization, you can avoid paying sales tax when you buy, but you must then charge sales tax when you rent it. It involves mucho paperwork, not worth it. I assume if you buy from out of state or country then technically you should be charging sales tax, but who's watching.
