Hi all,

As many of you know, Rich Davis is a very talented Steadicam operator that has been working on Scrubs for the last four years. On thursday we will be able to watch an episode that he directed!

It's been a pleasure for me to work with him on this season of Scrubs, and I just wanted to give Rich kudos, as it takes cajones to step up and be the head of such controlled caos that TV production can be. :D

Congrats Rich!!

So next Thursday night on NBC, check your listings, and watch!!!

Take care,

Dan

Rich,

Sorry to have missed you at the ASC open house. Saw a lot of John those two days and talked a lot about "Scrubs." I knew you were wearing the DP hat for the episodes he directed, but did not know you tried on the directing cap too. Congratulations, my friend. I will be watching!

Thanks guys for the good words. It was a fun visit above the line...albeit short. I directed the clip show episode..."You know a walk down memory lane." So I had a much shorter week. My scenes are a framewoirk to show a bunch of the funniest clips of six years. None the less it was a blast doing it. Hopefully I will get an opportunity to do another one. I hope all that get to see it ...laugh a lot.

All the Best,

Rich Davis

Rich,

That's fantastic! Congratulations man. I've had the pleasure of operating a day or two on Scrubs as your wing man (b-camera), and I had no idea that you directed an episode. That is very cool. Of course as fate would have it, I found this thread a couple of hours too late, and didn't manage to catch it tonight.

I'll have to pull some strings and get a copy. :D

In any case, I'm very happy for you, Rich. That's great news.

Along the same lines, Dave Chameides is prepping his episode over at "Studio 60", Geoff Haley is just kicking off his feature directorial debut and Terence Nightingall is currently directing his first episode of "ER" (after 5 years of assisting and 7 years of operating on that show--talk about hanging in there!)

"after 5 years of assisting and 7 years of operating on that show--talk about hanging in there!"

And I freak out at the notion of spending a few months in one place!

Way to go everyone.

Ditto that. I think I'd shoot myself in the head if I had to stay on the same set for 12 years!!!

I could in NO WAY do that. That in and of itself is a feat of unbelievable patience and endurance.

I have thought of Terrance many times and his long tenure at ER...just incredible!

Congrats Rich, hope it went well, I also did not get a chance to see it.

It does take cajones to step up. I've already been offered to DP the show I'm on for an episode, like all my DP offers, I turned it down. Still enjoy carrying the rig around, but if offered to direct...hmmm after pissing myself I might give it a shot. I'll call you for advice Rich the day that happens. LOL

Hope you guys go another season.

speaking of ER...Guy Bee just directed his second episode of Jericho. It was alot of fun working with him and talking shop, though I think we spent more time talking about his muscle cars than we did about the shots. He has a few beauties.

Congrats to Terry, Rich, Dave, Steve Clancy...all who can deal with those politics!
