The guys from Nebtek had a dummy one at NAB, saw it out of the corner of my eye next to the Canatrans they had on their wall, and the new reciever. They haddnt seen a working one as of then but were waiting for one to arrive.

Looking forward to hearing things about it.

please post your experiences with the new Modulus 4000.

Pros and Cons, please.

......and here we are 2.5 months after the announcement and when I put myself on the list for one and it's still not shipping yet. The last I heard two weeks ago was that there are still firmware issues to work out that may take "a week or ......" pretty much exactly as it was written to me from CIT.

Meanwhile, I'll continue helping Geraldo Rivera look for Al Capone's Secret Vault.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I expected nothing less than that. Just look at the customer service history with that guy, he's right up there with Steve Byro.

Oh boy, for a second there I thought the 4000 was actually shipping, then I saw the date on Terry's post. Oh well.

There could be light at then end of the 4000 mile long tunnel. I emailed CIT 7/20/07 asking if the 4000 was shipping yet and was told "We will not be shipping the Modulus 4000 until about mid-October". That was cut and paste from an email Phil sent me. So I hope they make good and start shipping, cause $2195 still sounds better than $4k, that is if it works.

Is anyone using the Mod Quad yet...

I've worked on set using a Mod Quad that belonged to the video assist op and it seemed to work very well; though he really didn't have clue how to properly point the four shark fin antennas to properly cover a tennis court.

Also, I know for sure Terry West has been selling the Mod Quads and has or had one on his bench as well.

Thanks, guys. Don't get me wrong, I like their product. I've had Modulus and Cantrans on the same set and the Modulus performed as good or better than the more expensive and heavier Cantrans. But I've made up cables for the 4000 back in April and I'm still waiting. Whatever manufacturing problems they are having and their track record tells me you can't believe anything they say regarding delivery date. If you need a transmitter now spend the extra $ and get a Cantrans before the $ gets even less valuable.

As far as the Mod Quad, I've worked on sets with them and I seem to recall the assistants beig anoyed by the lack of channel buttons and having to rely on the remote for tuning. And they didn't really take advantage of the multiple antenna input and had all antennae in close proximity to each other. We were outside and within 50' of the receiver and reception was lousy. The truth is who has time to set up antennae all over the set, out of frame, before a shot. Or adjust it during the shot. The pace on sets I'm on is so hurried there just isn't the time to use a diversity system properly.
