Toni Tuominen Posted March 2, 2007 Report Share Posted March 2, 2007 Hi everyone, I have been using glidecam v-16 for about year now and few months ago I decided to buy Steadicam. First I think that Archer would be system for me but after few days of hard thinking I end up with Clipper II. Well today is the day of happines, steadicam arrives. :P Almost everyone in this forum says that they love their rig... well, maybe I should say that too.. I LOVE MY RIG... ok. Hey one question, place where zoom controller is usually placed between arm and gimbal, in Clipper it is pretty thick compared for example EFP, do someone have some trick how to add ZOE or canon zoom controller to it. I've got an MK-V Nexus sled and regularly use the Zoe zoom controller. It' doesn't properly fit my gimball handle either. I can just about squeeze the long threaded metal parts over the handle but I can't actually tighten them. Instead, what I've done is to put a bit of gaffer tape round the handle, slide the Zoe over the handle and use a cable tie to pull the two threaded metal parts together. Pull the tie really tight and the gaffer will stop it slipping. I hope that's clear and not just a full-on ramble! Will take a photo next time I get my hands on one! So you can see it is intended to much thinner gimbal handler than clipper has, it works great with EFP. I think that I have to make some metal adapter between gimbal handle and zoom handle... :huh: btw that is old canon's zoom handle and it has custom made focus "ring" (that yellow knob there). It might seem a bit excessive but what about attaching a Superclamp onto your gimbal handle and then attaching your zoom demand onto that?? Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted March 4, 2007 Moderators Report Share Posted March 4, 2007 Guys, If you're stuck with a large pan handle type zoom control, you might think about mounting it to the arm post (or even a bone on the arm) instead of the gimbal yoke. I used to rig these type controls from the arm post and use it to boom the rig up and down (instead of holding the gimbal yoke).
