Anthony Hardwick
I'm talking about a couple of responsible Moderators who will do very little most of the time, but will occasionally clean up the forum by deleting redundant (as in exactly duplicated) post either when posted on multiple sections, or twice in the same thread. You know what I'm talking about. I'm not suggesting a fascist type of Policing element. What do you think? The Moderators could be chosen by Tim Tyler, David Grove and Dan Kneece, or perhaps by democratic vote - no jokes about what polling devices we should use ;)

Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted April 27, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2004 So far, I have not seen much "trash" that had to be removed. Little multiple postings and no flaming. The few times there was something at hand, there was enough attention from Tim. Looks to me that more moderators would be overkill, but if more people want to put some time in it.... Rob van Gelder
Anthony Hardwick
Yeah, I wasn't thinking so much for monitoring flaming and out of hand stuff so much as dealing with multiple posts and also relocating posts that are in the wrong topic. Some other forums that I visit do this, and when a topic has been moved to a more appropriate place, it makes easier for the folks interested in that topic to find the relevant posts. It really doesn't matter to me, it was just an idea. Whatever the masses and the powers that be want. is fine by me.
Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted June 27, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2004 Yes, so they can delete the ever growing "plug" and "sell" their product and services posts in every thread but the classifieds. If every "manufactuer" advertised and plugged their products as much as some do of recent (past couple months), there would be NO ban width left for every other topic. There should be no deletions, with deletions come agendas. If you don't want to read a post you see as sales then skip it. Do your own moderation. There are plenty of supposedly on-topic post that waste bandwidth. Plenty of Ops don't show up on this board not because of the "Sales" post but more due to content and some posters perceived importance. The best moderator is the person writing the post, any other form of moderation is counter productive. Besides when this was an email list there was no chance of moderation. KarloTomic
If you don't want to read a post you see as sales then skip it. Do your own moderation. Eric, I've got to say your statement put a wry grin on my face since you're usually the one who'll swoop down on some poor op for their post because you consider it to be clutter or in the wrong forum or offends the sensibilities of some pedantic ops and now they don't want to post here anymore and so on and so on, please... but asides that I agree with you, delete nothing, be your own moderator, and If you don't like a certain post for any reason than just move along.
