Flying a BL-4 in New York

I have a job at the end of the week (Friday 4/6) flying a BL-4 on a short film in New York. I was hoping to find locally the low mode bracket, eyepiece video tap and anything else I might need to fly this beast.

Thanks,

I suposse that you refer to a Arri BL-4. Isn´t it?.

I´ts a very load camera. I think that you can use video top, an adaptator to chassis to hold it vertical 124 ft. And if you need use the low mode, the best is to grip the plate to the handle of the camera...And go to doctor after. Good luck

I flew one on a tv show in '97 -- I swapped the optics for BL-3 optics (saves a few pounds of glass) and used a light wieght eyepiece tap. It's heavy, but the thing that bugged me the most was dealing with the coaxial mag/side to side balace. I happened to wiegh the last one I flew:

BL-3 (BL-4 with 3 optics) -- 33 lbs without lens, but including 1 focus motor, camera plate, cables, clip-on mattebox, and 400' film. The Zeiss primes are about 2 to 3 lbs each, Cookes are a few pounds more.

Good luck

Denny,

I have a BL-4 low mode bracket on the shelf in my equipment room. You are more than welcome to have it for the weekend, just pay the freight to and fro. I'll even sell it to you for cheap, because my BL days have been over for a while.

Call me at 248-705-4500 if you need it, it would have to ship Wednesday.

Good luck,
