Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted May 14, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 14, 2004 My mother in law is visiting from out of state so we did the touristy thing and went to Hollywood. By chance we happened to see a live on tape show of "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" outside, next to the Kodak Theater. Lenny Cravitz performed. Naturally I scanned for Steadicam and I saw not one, but two, count em' two steadicam operators. I believe one guy was David Eastwood. But I'm not sure who the other guy was. I couldn't get close enough to talk to either operator. The one who I think was Eastwood has a pro-vest, Master arm. I couldn't tell which sled he has. The other guy had a Broadcast or possibly Elite master setup. It was fun to watch other operators at work. It would have been more fun to actually work the show. ;)
Premium Members Jeff Muhlstock SOC Posted May 16, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 Eastwood's rig is custom(David designed and built it), with a pro gimbal d-box 2, transvideo monitor. The other op, I believe, is Danny Bonila. A relatively, new to Steadicam guy. He is the regular on this show. Jeff
Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted May 16, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2004 Hey Jeff, Mr. Eastwood actually sent me an email! It was indeed him and the other op was actually Wayne Kelly. David said he was filling in for another op (perhaps Danny) that was ill. dustinlucht
The Dr. Phil Show uses a steadicam all the time. They even close with a steadicam shot of Dr. Phil and his wife leaving the studio.
