I purchased a Flyer last November. Practice etc. What would you (the working pro) suggest be the most practical item to buy next to augment my package. I'm speaking in terms of PRACTICAL , in the context of the Producer/Director's needs. Wireless monitor, low mode cage???

Any and all advise is most appreciated. And to sweeten the pot: I'll be your best friend for a mutually agreed upon duration of time. Can't beat that!!!

It depend of what you fly, but i think you need a way to " control " the iris and focus of the camera you fly. So i suggest a follow focus system, then a wireless video transmitter. After that there are choices enough to buy. Dont worry, after spend 9 years in this game, you never stop investing :P

Kip,

I have a flyer too, and my first purchase was the BFD. I was working on indies with the 35mm lens adapters so I had to have a way to control focus. We would just play back each take and the director would look at my monitor. So that brings me to my next purchase and that will be a video transmitter. I have been saving up to get the canatrans, b/c I have heard great things about it and it (and the BFD) will stay with me as I move up to bigger rigs. I also got a low mode bracket for my dv camera, but its not the easiest way to get low mode. Another op suggested I just rebalance so the camera is upside down and they can just flip the image in post. I have to agree it saves alot of time!

my .02,

The real question is not what to buy but, what NOT to buy . . .LOL . . . .as the others will attest, the spending and wondering what should be purchased next never stops . . . . .

Actually it really does depend on what your flying most of the time.

Specify that and what your hoping to be working on in 5 years and then we'll all get specific on your best friend ass !! . . .LOL . . .

Happy Spending
