unable to reverse image for low mode

I just got my new low mode bracket from Brant Fagen and it works great. My problem is that I cannot reverse my image. It flips upside down okay, but when I use the mirror function, the menu letters reverse, but the image does not. Am I doing something wrong, or do I have a bad monitor? This is the first time i have tried to use this function. I am using the 7 inch Panasonic lcd that comes with the Archer and I think it is the same one that is with the Flyer. I am shooting tomorrow, so any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried the function "up/down" instead of the "mirror" function ?

For that LCD monitor (comes with Flyer and Archer), it works like that.

The first time I also tried the "mirror" function first ! ;)

I have the rig up side down. I use the up/down function to turn the image right side up, but it is backwards. Are you saying that the up/down function on your sled reverses the image?

I am glad you like your new VLS. I will post some pictures of the VLS setup in another post and send them to your email off board.

 

My question is, with that in place and set correctly, why do have a need to flip the image to display correctly on your rig monitor?

I know what you speak of my friend. My Archer monitors mirror fuction acts the same as yours. I first thought it was operator error but as you said the image is still flopped left/right. My answer was/is to remove the 2 screws and flip the monitor 180 degrees. The cables are long enough and it only takes a minute.

Hi everyone

With regards to flipping the image .

I was on a shoot the other week where I had a shot where the shot started on a house where the actors came out the front door and walk under the camera and get into a car and drive off .

The director wanted the camera to tilt 180 deg as the actors moved to the car .

 

To get the shot I put my Hill docking bracket onto a Large lighting stand to a height of 10-12 ft and operator from a ladder . There was no budget to get a hot head for the shot.

 

Where is this leading? How am I going to frame the shot when it upside down ?To my disbelief when I first tilted the camera upside down the image flipped itself on my screen???This was the first time I turned a Vari cam HD upside down on my rig "Poor mans low mode ". The shot worked well the director and dp were very happy ( they didn't know how the shot was going to work as well )

thanks for the information. I finally figured it out. Then they cancelled the shot two minutes before I was supposed to shoot because of time!

I had similar problems with my monitor on the Archer. The problem is a faulty mirror chip inside the monitor. A lot of the Archer monitors had this problem. I've fixed mine by the help of Kyle at Tiffen. Call him and he will sort it out for you.
