There is no "best" piece of kit - there is only the kit that works best for you and suits how you like to work. There are plenty of threads on this forum already discussing each manufacturers pros and cons. Do some homework and im sure you'll find enough information for your report. I doubt you will ever find that any one manufacture wins out over any others. Some much better than others for sure but it is always a matter of opinion. Some people like gear that is basic hardware that will not brake while others live on the cutting edge of technology. I have one sled on the edge of the latest technology and the other is just hardware that always works. For me it is a great combination. My second rig also works great as a light weight running rig/live show rig. What it tends to boil down to really is not only the gear that works well for each of us but which manufactures have the best customer service. That is a HUGE issue for us. When your gear brakes and you can't make a buck, you tend to stick with the manufacture that saved your butt in a hurry. That said, I built a second rig so that if and when I have problems I can continue to work while one rig is getting repaired. I do not like to be forced to depend on anyone that might keep me from making an income. I have too much gear to list and I don't want to see this thread turn into a mud slinging contest. That could easily happen with a post like this. We have had enough of that this year already. During your research you might search "customer service"....that could be very revealing. Dont listen to much what others fly, its all personell at the end. It took me some years to figure out what i wanted, i still do from time to time. You see? Joe is saying that he finds the Baer Bel's arm is a worthy contentender. I dont agree with him, not at all. But thats my opinion. The components from the top manufacturers are all very good, so it really comes down to personal preference. I think one thing we all can agree on is the perfect rig is one that's paid for! You can get 100% of the gear you need (save your Preston) from GPI. That?s a high quality top stage, post, gimbal, bottom stage, monitor, batteries, charger, cables, gyros, super post, plates, brackets, screws, cases, vest and arm and they all come from the same place (obviously GPI doesn?t manufacture 100% of that gear on site but you can buy it all from them). I'd also argue that you can do any show, with any camera (tiny or huge, big budget or small) with a PRO. You could also find a large percentage of the top Steadicam operators in the world that would agree that the PRO is the best rig made (obviously not all of them but certainly a good chunk). Finally I'd say that in my personal experience, GPI's service is as good as I've ever had with any product (car, boat, house, dishwasher, et.). When you start comparing "Ultimate Rigs" your delving into the world of, "what?s better, a Ferrari, a Porsche, or a Lamborghini?". Everybody has an opinion and they all have merit. And I would argue that the XCS Ultimate is the best sled available. It's stiffer than any other rig, has more power and video options and it's for the most part vibration proof. My ultimate rig? The XCS Ultimate Pro arm OR G70 Pro Suit TB6 monitor or if you are only doing HD the Tiffen ultrabrite Preston FF if in the States if in europe then Scorpio Anton Bauer Batteries and chargers But then again that's the kit I fly. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The vest is extreamly comfortable, the arm (I have the medium sized arm up to 63Lbs.) is perfect and the sled and gimbal too. But don't forget the Tiffen Ultra Cine2. In fact it is pretty expencive, but it is one of the most professional rig for heavy cameras...
