Premium Members Charles Papert Posted April 28, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2007 Matt: Uh, well, it's in the main menu. here is a link to a specific post from a few days ago--you can back up a level to see what else is in the classified section. HV10--dude, that's old school! The HV20 is out and she's a beaut, I picked one up a few weeks ago. It's horizontal rather than the HV10's vertical form factor, so it flies nicely on a Merlin; has true 24p mode, 1080i and just $900...! Very impressive and fun little camera. Here is a clip I took with it behind-the-scenes the other day--it's downsized to 720p. Pretty friggin' sharp!
mattmarek
thanks charles, that link takes me to this: "matt marek, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:...." any way you can grant me access? maybe i'm not seeing the classifieds section because i just joined. and thanks for the clip. i'm definitely interested in getting a little cam just for personal doco stuff. any manual controls for focus? how's the mic? low light shooting? cheers Edited April 28, 2007 by mattmarek
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted April 28, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2007 Manual control for focus is a tiny spinning hoo-ha that makes the endlessly rotating electronic ring seem easy in comparison. Not in love with that. However the Instant Auto Focus control is so fast that it becomes the preferred way to find focus. Built-in mic is OK, some handling noise--I got the Canon DM50 outboard mike which has variable pickup settings and "talks" to the camera via smart shoe, and is quite light. Low light is OK, not the camera's strong point (due to the CMOS sensor)--gets noisier than I would like. It does have a little built in LED for extra illumination but it has a wacky output color, very blue.
