IIIa vest clicky bits

i want to make the adjustable vecro waist things on my iiia vest out of a couple of scuba dive belts instead of the really poor tightening system there now

 

so as not to infringe on my present vest i need to buy some more of those big clicky things ... u know shaped like devils tridents that work like harpoon guns.....

 

where do i get these from? tiffen? its made by cinema products u see

You should be able to buy those from any good Outdoor type shop: Great Outdoors, North Face dealer etc.

If you ordered them from Tiffen you'd pay more for the shipping than the actual piece.

If you cant find them locally let me know and ill pick up a few for you here and post them over.

ill just have to mooche to a few shops with my "small of back plate" and see if i can get some clicky bits to mate

 

tried the ultra vest for the first time this week... so am trying to emulate some of its comfort including back straps.

The Ultra Vest makes use of ski-boot type latches. The Fastex Buckle clasps being referred to here are fairly common place, as was mentioned. Any good camping supply or outdoor place has em.

 

I don't buy Fastex brand- only because Campmoor doesn't sell them. However, the knockoff they DO sell works well, doesn't crack and holds up for long periods of time, right until some feeb P.A. steps on your vest because you ran off and didn't hang up the vest from the stand and the P.A. cracks a buckle.

 

Which is why I keep 2 sets of Fastex ( I'm using the name, but generically ) 2" buckles in my kit for emergencies. Equally important are the small oval rings used to hold in place the extra strapping, so it won't flop around.
