Premium Members Stephen Murphy Posted May 27, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 27, 2004 Thomas, You should be able to buy those from any good Outdoor type shop: Great Outdoors, North Face dealer etc. If you ordered them from Tiffen you'd pay more for the shipping than the actual piece. If you cant find them locally let me know and ill pick up a few for you here and post them over.

RobinThwaites
Hi Thomas I have seen these in outdoor shops and even John Lewis but make sure you get good ones like "Fastex" or similar as there are some very cheap brittle plastic versions around. Premium Members Peter Abraham Posted June 4, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 4, 2004 The Ultra Vest makes use of ski-boot type latches. The Fastex Buckle clasps being referred to here are fairly common place, as was mentioned. Any good camping supply or outdoor place has em. I don't buy Fastex brand- only because Campmoor doesn't sell them. However, the knockoff they DO sell works well, doesn't crack and holds up for long periods of time, right until some feeb P.A. steps on your vest because you ran off and didn't hang up the vest from the stand and the P.A. cracks a buckle. Which is why I keep 2 sets of Fastex ( I'm using the name, but generically ) 2" buckles in my kit for emergencies. Equally important are the small oval rings used to hold in place the extra strapping, so it won't flop around.
