Hey all,

looking into investing in a HD multiformat monitor. I've looked at the TV Logic 7" LVM - 070W, and the 8.4" LVM - 084 monitor.

The 7" is listed at about $3500. The 8.4 a bit more expensive I'll presume.

Anyone had a chance to seen these in action?

Wondering about how it behaves in sunlight, color, reflection and general viewing quality.

Thanks for any info.

Hey Lars,

I just DP'd a F900 job last week, and the DIT had 2 of the TV Logic 17" LCD monitors. They were very nice as a tech monitor. Normally, I'd wouldn't expect to make critical decisions on a $3500 monitor, but I was pleasantly surprised how nice they looked.

With that said, they are not Steadicam monitors. All the features we need (high brightness, framelines, image invert, etc...) are missing. For that price range, maybe consider a Transvideo high brightness model. At least you'll have a fighting chance to see outside.

It seems like the contrast ratio is only 300x1 not very high for focus and I couldn't find the specs on the brightness my guess would be 400nit not great for outdoors . . . . but very interesting . . . I can't wait to hear the response from anyone using it . . . .

Hi!

I have bought this monitor and I've been using it couple of months now. I must say, that I was pretty surprised about the monitors quality. I think if you compare the price & quality, it's worth it!

Well, big minus is that it is very poor at outdoors, especially in the sunshines it's impossible to see anything, 'cause the monitor itself is like a mirror. BUT! I've solve that problem by buying anti-glare film to the screen, which takes at least 90 % the reflections and I've build a proper sunhood, so after that it's bearable to see & use outdoors. I heard that if you buy contrast filter which fits that monitor, then the would not such a big problem outside with the anti-glare film.

Indoors it's works fine and the quality is pretty ok. It's very good that the monitor has waveform & vectorscope, which been very helpful in few projects, we're I've been the operator and the cinematographer at the same time. But the waveform & vectorscope works only in HD, so there's no use for SD-quality for that option. Color quality is OK & it have good adjustments options. Good thing for TV SteadiCAM-operators, that it has a Red Tally Light, so if you build tally-system for your SteadiCAM, then you can also use this ability. At the moment I'm trying to build wireless tally-system to use this potential.

This is very good monitor for multi-use type of things, like its very good if do editing or monitoring, when you plug it into computer and you're not using SteadiCAM. I've been using it in portable computer and it's been helpful.

Finnish Broadcast Company (YLE) in Finland has bought these monitors to all of their SteadiCAM:s and many users inside that company also had positive things to say about these monitors, 'cause before they had Teletest modelos. If you compare TV-Logic monitors like Teletest or some other cheap models, I think TV-Logic is a good choice.

I hope this helped, any more questions about this monitor, I try to answer more accuretaly.

Yours,

Markus Lintu

SteadiCAM-operator from Finland

Hi,

This little transvideo beastie is terrific http://www.transvideointl.com/pages/englis...ineHDfamily.htm

It's supremely daylight visible, has HD framelines, horizon, and waveform generator. It's like upgrading your whole rig. Bullet proof too.

I adore it,

Chris

Ok Guys,

I have been putting off telling you all about this "LVM - 071W NEW! 7" TV Logic monitor until I could get mine an give you a proper review but I checked out the factory set model on the set the other day and inside it's really great! but outdoors it sucks. Also, I didn't want you guys to inundate them with phone calls and freak them out since they are still developing it.

I plugged in HD/SDI and analog and all three looked great. It has built in Frame line Generator, waveform & vectorscope, Tally, Battery attachment, 12V and more

So I had a long conversation with the distributer and techs and they are working on getting the backlight turned up they are replacing the shiny plastic LCD cover with an anti reflective cover so that it may be much more usable outdoors.

I told them I would rep these monitors if they can achieve a usable outdoor level, I also asked if they could put in an Electronic level, they were stumped by that question . . .LOL . . .

But I have to say for the price and the bang for the buck this monitor ROCKS . . .at $2500-$3000

I'll be getting mine this week . . . .so they say, and I'll give you the further run down.

It's no Transvideo but it's not $8000 iether . . . .

Let me know what you guys think, and I already told them I have 5 sold and there most likely will be alot more so maybe I can rep these and get us all a break . . .

All the best

Hi Chris,

Which transvideo model are you praising about?

Do you know of any used ones?

Thx
