Docking ring slipping on post

Hey all,

Anybody have a good, simple solution for this: my Gorelock ring tends to slip upwards on my XCS 2" carbon post when docking, especially with heavy cameras.

What is the best material to put between the ring and the post to avoid slipping? I plan on calling Greg, but I thought someone in the forum might have a practical solution.

Thanks,

Hey Mark,

Do you have the new style Jerry Hill ones or the ones from Tom?

Anyhow, with the new 2 piece rings from Jerry it seams there are only 2 positions... crushed post or slipping post... Actually disappointed by the quality or actually the lake of it.

I'm ridding my dock ring all the way up under the Camera stage. Greg has drilled and pressed a pin into the ring that prevents it from spinning (and prevents the tighdown screw from loosening on the Ultimate).

Also way up in the Carbon fiber post is the aluminum connector that prevents the post from getting crushed...

I'm guessing you have the 2 inch conversion for the PRO... right?

So the docking ring is slipping over the knurled tighdown ring / PRO dock. Usually placing the ring further away from the connector (closer to the Gimbal) helps. If that doesn't work you could ask Greg to press 2 bolts into the docking ring that are long enough to touch the bottom of the Junction box. Make sure to place them onto the connector support and not directly on the J-box as the J-box has no structural integrity and will deform.

I didn't had that problem on my prototype Gore lock and my Prototype 2 inch post back in 2003... see below:

Good Luck,

Erwin
