Premium Members Denny Kortze Posted August 6, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 6, 2007 Has anyone had any problems playing/editing the AVI files captured with the Archos AV500 on a Mac. I have an MacBook Pro with the latest version of OS X. Initially I could not get anything but a blank white image when attempting to playback the .avi files. I downloaded the DiVX player that apple recommends. I was able to see the initial frame opening frame of the clips but once I try to play the clip quicktime would immediately close and an error message comes up. I reloaded both quicktime and the DiVX player but it did not fix the problem. Any recommendations? Denny Kortze

Premium Members Imran Naqvi Posted August 6, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 6, 2007 Try doing a search for something called Perian, which is a quicktime plugin that lets you see all sorts of weird stuff. It's free, open source and I use it to view all my TV on the computer.

Premium Members Denny Kortze Posted August 6, 2007 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted August 6, 2007 I had already downloaded VLC however it would only play back on the VLC player, I wanted to be able to play on quicktime and edit on final cut pro (which uses quicktime files). I downloaded Perian and it works great, no problems. Thanks for the quick response. Denny
