The videos are all some like 1 minute or shorter but shows amazing shots ! His speed, level, frameing and stops + locks are simply unbelievable. I have contacted Johan and soon he will put some of the shots in a reel. Then it should be possible to put it on the website of Afton (steadishots.org) Best, Erik ps.. this look like a combi clip. Quite impressive. I actually CAN post YouTube stuff on SteadiShots. The only thing I was waiting for was information regarding the actual productions themselves. What was the show, artist, date, etc? I'm the submitter of the clip to Youtube, I've personally meet Johan here in Sweden and he is a very very nice guy, I got a chance of a lifetime to ask him every question I had about Stedi and he listened to all of my questions and answered it all!. (Thanks Johan for making that possible!) I think that he is an inventor in stedi-technics. Thats my opinion. :-D Now about the clip: I searched on Youtube but I just found small little tv-clips from johan´s work on youtube. I wanted to combine my recorded "behind the scenes" with the actual "live-tv" recording. Acctuly the "live-tv" clip after every "behind-clip" is an recorded version of the "live-air´ed broadcast". So itsn't the same day. The "behind" cam is from the reversal and the "live-tv broadcast" is from another day. But still the same camera movement. Impressive! It is recorded in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. The arena:s name is "Swedbank Arena". 17:e of Feburary 2007. The Artists feat in the clip are: Magnus Carlsson - Live Forever, Måns Zelmerlöw - Cara Mia, The Attic feat Therese - The Arrival of Love, Sebastian - When Night comes falling, Sonja Alden - För att du finns, Nanne Grönwall - Kyssa Dig. The editing I've made took about 2 days (Hey, I'm a beginner) for me to do :-D I've have the clip in high-res and if you want it I can convert it to any size. Nice Stuff Johan, also nice EFP . . . Hi Rob, I feel your pain on the cabled shoots. :( The camera he is using looks like the Thomson LDK400 though I may be wrong. I do know that they are used a lot in Europe on live OB's as Job Sholtz will probably atest to. A company I do work for has just upgraded it's gear to Thomson Grass Valley Group equipment and I have a number of OB's coming up flying this camera. Fantastic to fly as it is a little lower in height and wider than your average Sony cam so the C.O.G. is lower. Very nice. I´m always using the Linx system beacause the audiodelay is less than a frame and they never fail. I first got in contact with it in the eurovision song contest Riga 2003 and been in love with it since. It takes almost no power wich is good since I don´t have to use an extra battery and use my power from the steadi instead. The camera control can see no difference a cable cam or the linx system so it´s very sweet. It´s just a little bit heavier than with operating with the cable but hey it´s fantastic to run without cables. I havn´t used cables for teh last 3 years and my motivation to the producers which are paying is that to do this kind of work oyu need at least 2 or maybe 3 cable assistants and they cost the same or sometimes more than the linx to hire. I don´t know who makes them but in sweden we have about 7 systems and one company that have them are HoF, and their homepage is hof.se I think, and talk to Mattias sellfors he knows where to get them, he is the specialist in the Linx system here.Sometimes I get the luxury to have a remote focus as well but only in the bigger shows. Good luck friendsregards Johan Sandklef ----------------- Hey Johan, There are only two shows here in the states that will pony up the money for a wireless system "Dancing with the stars" and "So you think you can Dance" all the others including the American Idol, Emmy's, Oscars, Grammy's, ETC . . . . are all cabled. Your wireless system, "The Linx" it has full engineering remote control and return video? The one here does, but apparently it's quit expensive to rent per day. As far as your zoom and focus control . . . you are doing that yourself with________? All of us live guys over here have to use a Stanton Zoom and Focus control and do it all by ourselves. Having someone else pull focus or zoom for us is out of the question . . .LOL . . .. Nice stuff BTW . . . keep up the fight for the wireless . . . . Johan Sandklef Posted September 5, 2007 Report Share Posted September 5, 2007 Hi there again, no I usually do both zoom and focus myself and I´m using the original cinema products J-7 zoom control which I bought 3 of them just before they ended production of them. then I have a couple of Bebob Zoe controlls as well, they are a little bit "ruffer" but very good quality. For focus I have a home made system that I attache to the zoom control, but most of the times I go without focus control, I just like it better to "prepare" for each shot and put the focus onthe distance where I make the zoom in. Works fine whith a Canon J-11 which is in good light pretty friendly in the focus area. Then in the recent swedish Grand Prix tour (6 weeks of live shows) I had the a wireless remote focus system, and I had a focus puller standing with a monitor and a clear view of me on the side, and it worked fantastic. We got so syncronised together and could do a lot of nice stuff so I think it was aa good trend, I will probably have it on the swedish Idol, and definately on the next years Grand Prix and the Eurovision song contest in Serbia- I´m sorry but the real name on the video link system is not Linx, it used to be but know it is called link and their homepage is linkres.co.uk go to support and then click on hire rentals and you have a lot of companies all over the world that rent this babies. Here in sweden I got told by Mattias that we have 10 systems which 2 of them are HD. And we use them for all kinds of shows ,as I said i havn´t use my cable for the last 3 years on any show. There are some with return video but not all of them. So here in Sweden and Norway, Denmark as well we use these systems all the time and the producers love it because you can move around everywhere and it costs about 700 dollars a day to hire here in scandinavia=the price of 2 guys to handle the cable. Overhere in the Netherlands we use the Thompson wireless camera's. I'll post a pic later tonight. It a very friendly steadicam camera. Also with 11x lens. But becose i love to do full zooms, trackzooms and other stuff, i dont work without my assistant/focus puller. Also he assists me whith all the shots that are scripted. So i have contact with him on my intercom. ( inears ) Left ear the director, rightear my assistant. ) Also its good that he helps me with all kind of things like spotting. Overhere i do Idols and Evita, popstars, X Factor and Junior Song Festival. All of those shows is with a focus puller. Its getting standard around here. For zoom the bebob is fine by me. Last weekend we did a concert on HD. The use the F900 for it with tapes and connect the D-cam transmitter to feed the ob van with video. Its heavy and heavy and also heavy.
