Toni Tuominen
Hi, Have anyone else noticed that their clipper II top stage is little bit loose, so that cause some shaking in picture when running. Is there any trick how to get it tight. BR Toni Tuominen
Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted October 14, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 14, 2007 Try to detrrmine if the looseness is in the side to side or fore/aft section of the stage. Then loosen some of the screws that hold the bearings (4 or 6 per bearing), pull or push the bearing by hand to preload it, and retighten. Check for stiffness across the whole range of travel. Go slowly, one bearing at a time. I'd check the fore/aft bearigns first... Jerry
RobinThwaites
Hi Toni Also may be worth checking the tilt assembly but be careful not to overtighten. Robin
Premium Members Anders Holck Petersen Posted October 17, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 17, 2007 Also make certain that the vibrations doesn't originate from the dovetail to camera coupling. The slim Clipper/Archer dovetail can be a bit tricky to get totally solid, and if its not, vibrations are showing in the roll axis, which are pretty obvious... Toni Tuominen
Thanks for all replies! When I get back to home from holiday I will check what I can do for the stage. BR Toni Tuominen
Toni Tuominen
Hi again :) Is every clipper 2 topstage build like mine is, or have there been some kind of upgrade ? My topstage is not motorized. What is weird for me is that if you look closer to side to side "screw" which goes through the stage, there is only small "lock shim" on both sides of the stage which keeps stage tight. If one of the "lock shims" pops out of the "rail" in the side to side screw then stage is loose and causes shaking in the picture... There is also lock shim at the fore/aft screw which won't stay at its place.... Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted February 21, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 21, 2009 My Clipper II and Clipper 24 both had minor issues with the fore and aft adjustment getting a little loose but Tiffen tightened them up and the problem was solved.
