Clipper II top stage shaking

Try to detrrmine if the looseness is in the side to side or fore/aft section of the stage.

Then loosen some of the screws that hold the bearings (4 or 6 per bearing), pull or push the bearing by hand to preload it, and retighten. Check for stiffness across the whole range of travel. Go slowly, one bearing at a time.

I'd check the fore/aft bearigns first...

Also make certain that the vibrations doesn't originate from the dovetail to camera coupling.

The slim Clipper/Archer dovetail can be a bit tricky to get totally solid, and if its not, vibrations are showing in the roll axis, which are pretty obvious...

Hi again :)

Is every clipper 2 topstage build like mine is, or have there been some kind of upgrade ?

My topstage is not motorized.

What is weird for me is that if you look closer to side to side "screw" which goes through the stage, there is only small "lock shim" on both sides of the stage which keeps stage tight. If one of the "lock shims" pops out of the "rail" in the side to side screw then stage is loose and causes shaking in the picture...

There is also lock shim at the fore/aft screw which won't stay at its place....
