A friend of mine has a 8.4" LCD monitor from Boland. He loves it and swears by it. He uses a different rig and therefore a different monitor arm. My question is this; what would be the best way to attach an LCD monitor (with a 1/4 20 hole) to my PRO monitor arm? On their site, they sell their version of the 8.4" Boland, so I'm sure they should have a PRO spigot for it. http://www.mk-v.com/monitors.htm I picked up a MK-V Hummingbird earlier this year for live work, and I ordered a XCS bracket for it. I'm still a greenscreen guy at heart, but I find myself using the LCD on more digital jobs as well as the live stuff. Chime in once you've had some time on the Boland. For an LCD monitor mount to PRO arm adapter I went to a machinist and had a little aluminum block made with a 1/4 hole for a bolt to the monitor and a couple of "Fins" that fit over the end of the pro arm mount with a tapped out hole for the bolt. I'm guessing you just gave them the nipple on the end of the pro monitor arm and had them machine the fins to fit snug over it? Ive come up with 2 other options as well. trans video makes a bracket just for this purpose and i was also able to 'rig' something myself. i bought one of those beefy ball and socket mounts with the monitor. it screws into 1/4 20 and has a pretty stout ball and socket lock. i just got a long (10/32? size thread) bolt at the hardware store and went through the ball and socket attachment into the bottom of the pro nipple (where there is a screw you can loosen to pivot the monitor). I also have a Noga Israeli arm with a post clamp on one end which I sometimes use with a light weight LCD monitor. This allows me to position the screen pretty high up while keeping the weight of the monitor down low on the post. I use this only when shooting video as it's too light for film cameras.
