Most of the stuff I work on won't be directly effected but if the strike lasts for very long the more experienced guys who are losing jobs because of it will start taking jobs that I would otherwise be getting. Chances are the strike will be over before it really has a chance to effect me. No hard feelings even if it has an effect. His production shut down today and they are wrapping the Camera package to go back to the rental house tomorrow... My neighbor works on Nip/Tuck and they are on a day to day schedule with a shut down in sight. At the same time I lost a couple of non union jobs that union guys where giving to me as they where busy... now they will have to do'em. So it is already screwing with me... As it's already in production, I guess it's not effected? I'm also booked to start another feature just after Thanksgiving. As of yesterday, everything is still set to go. I was made to understand that once the show has started pre-production and the script has obviously been approved, the writers strike doesn't effect the job??? My series 'Burn Notice' is supposed to start in January. I'm guessing that if the strike is still going on then it might mess with my start date??? The writer is also the executive producer (I wonder if that makes any difference?). The writers have to make mortgage payments and car payments and private school payments just like we do. While I understand they want changes to their contract, I would also imagine they want to get to work just as much as everybody else does. Show runners are not allowed to write or even edit shows that are in the can, because that includes trimming of the written word. Sorry MY show (SCRUBS) will finish out the week then we are screwed. I heard from other friends today that The Office, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, Heroes and a number of others have already ceased production. Bummer. Hoping this all ends soon. This sucks. Grey's and Earl are supposed to stop shooting next week as well. My show is good until the 1st (keeping fingers crossed that this is true). ...and the story about the guy who was run down and suffered a broken leg has been greatly exaggerated -- it was here at Sunset Gower and his foot was run over because the numbskull stuck it out infront of a moving car. Did it appear this way to anyone else; it's hard to tell from the car while driving, texting and eating lunch :rolleyes: I see this going on here in Las Vegas with the local construction trade unions where they hire basic day laborers to picket businesses with signs that say "Shame on XYZ". Matt Gibbs Posted November 11, 2007 Report Share Posted November 11, 2007 the network i work for has a show about heroes. once new episodes of heroes dries up in december our show will have to stop as well. i'm one of the lucky ones because i work on other shows for the network but i have friends who will most likely be out of a job if this strike isn't resolved soon. i didn't know how many people this strike effected until it happened. i really hope they come to a conclusion soon cause i don't want my friends to lose their jobs.
