For a while now I have been using my Steadicam Flyer on a independent feature film and as most people have discovered while operating the Flyer the vest squeaks really bad and I am sick of it. I have tried all different methods to stop it, including stuffing tissues into the clips and then taping them up which has worked averagely. I have decided to go in search of a NEW VEST that doesn't squeak which I can still use my Flyer Arm and Sled with. I'm also a flyer owner, this is my second flyer and i have also time to time some squeaking problems with the vest. The problem however with a new vest is, the socketblock is industry size. The Flyer socketblock and the connector on the Flyer arm are not standard industry size. You need a adapter for this to upgrade your arm connector and then buy a another vest. RobinThwaites Posted November 20, 2007 Report Share Posted November 20, 2007 Guys Where is the noise coming from? if it if the plastic parts then try dry silicon spray lubricant (available from RS Components over here). Premium Members Joe Lawry Posted May 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 Bringing up a very old thread, But my quick solution for this is to line the inside of the buckle (the piece that attaches to the chest plate with paper tape so there is no more plastic upon plastic rubbing.
