My favorite is two 4x4 double nets in a "V" configuration behind me operated by the grip department. The double net allows the grips to see what your doing and hold the flag without it getting knocked all over the place by the wind. The double net does just as well as a solid would in blocking the wind.

Brant's Antlers work great for wind too.

I haven't used them in a long while but I always have them handy.

They increase the inertia of the rig exponentially without increasing the weight too much.

Easy to use. Antlers are a great alternative to gyros.

Dig the homebuilt setup Andrey,

As long as the antlers are rigid, they should work great. Brant's original Antlers were $1,100 but they're really a handy piece of equipment that are way simpler than gyros.

But I guess if you or one of your buddies is a great machinist, go for it.

The double monitors look like fun too. I think Sergei Franklin in NYC used to do that. Great idea for some Don Juan. Sorta tried it with my Archos screen before.......

Cheers,

Double net to stop the wind by 1 stop, single for a 1/2 stop!

THAT was funny.

I used to go with a Double Net. If shooing directly into the wind, get a few grips on board. Have them carry 4x4 solids. Make a "V" behind you with them. The wind will blow into the area where you are standing and be forced back out. The net effect ( heh. "net effect" . ) will be to create an area of calm air around you and the sled. The same wind that was working against you is now your aerodynamic friend !!

Works like a chahm.

I've actually done some experimenting with double, single and solids............. As it turns out, the double net reduces the wind so much that it is virtually non existent. And, with the net vs the solid, the grips can see what your doing.

Also, if it's really windy, it can be handy to have 4 double nets (so each side is 8x4) to protect the bottom of the rig as well as the top.
