Premium Members nick franco Posted January 6, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 6, 2008 Hey all. Does anybody have any recommendations for transfer of 8mm film to DVD in Los Angeles? Thanks, Nick

Premium Members Charles Papert Posted January 8, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 8, 2008 I looked into having Pro8 transfer my family home movies and my old student films, got a quote that was top-end to say the least, and then started exploring other options. I ended up going with Cinepost in Georgia; they are using a Rank with wetgate and it was less than half the price (their explanation was that you aren't paying the "studio convenience" markup, which is probably pretty likely). I was happy with the results. I did have a concern about shipping the fragile films across country, but I double boxed and insulated and all was fine. I actually had the footage transferred to DVCAM and hard drive, but I know they will do DVD as well.
