Dave Bittner
Wow! A really informative thread going here! Good stuff, guys. I want to chime in here and point out that the original poster stated that he's using an SK, which, sadly, has no adjustments for getting the rig to hang in good trim, properly aligned with your posture. The arm/vest interface is fixed. So part of his trouble could be due to the fact that he's fighting the rig all the time. I have experienced varying degrees of right hip pain, and I think some of it comes from carelessly shifting my weight to over my right hip when I'm in a rest position. I've noticed that sometimes I really stick that right hip out in between shots, loading it up with the weight of the rig, and sometimes I'll pay for it the next day. It's easy to try to muscle it out and not dock the rig in between shots, especially when you've got a nice light setup, but try to make a point of docking it whenever possible and see if it helps your hip situation. -Dave Bittner
MikeB
Man, this is really informative. We've been shooting all week, and some of the comments have been very helpful. And I'm glad you mentioned about the arm, Dave. I really didn't see how the physics played out with that much weight to the left whilst still attempting to remain standing upright. And I have noticed that I've been shifting, we'll work on that. Thanks again.
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted June 24, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 24, 2004 Definitely this is an important issue to take note of. I flew my old rig for years with a wonky vest that forced me to compensate by twisting/leaning a certain way. Knock on wood, my back has never troubled me yet but that right hip has a little conversation with me each and every day.
