You can read about it and see the picture gallery at :

transit connect article

This one looks like a real contender for the "ultimate Steaditruck" in North America. At last, they bring in America one of the many trucks I drool over when I go to Europe.

I'll watch this one for sure when it arrives.

It is disapointing that they won't offer a diesel version in the States.

Ideally I'd like to see an AWD version in either a hybrid, turbo diesel or some combo there of.

Looks like a good size otherwise.

Its sad how such a weak engine is still barely breaking the 20mpg maker.

I'm also a bit warry of any vehicle I may not be able to regisiter as a private vehicle. Commerical insurance is cheap, but I like my parkways.

I'll stick with my Subaru for now.

(IF YOU NEED TO SLEEP IN THE CABIN )and one more , the back doors open in 180 deegrees but if you asked its a special model that doors open in 270 deegres (very useful if you are shooting from the back door

Even with the poor gas mileage I would purchase one tomorrow if it were available. I currently drive a Honda Element wich is great but I do have to break everything down everytime I load or unload. I'm not getting any younger and being able to leave a cart with drawers and a cabinet built would be a god send.

It would be worth it for me to sell my Element for $14K, buy the Transit for $14K and then purchase a small 40 mile to the gallon vehicle. I'd be happy to make the sacrifice financially. And we, my wife and I would have to make sacrifices.

Here in Atlanta we just went through a 4 week period where gas was not only expensive but scarce due to Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. The Gulf Pipeline was compromised as a result of the storms. If you could find gas you waited in line for 45 minutes to an hour to fill up.

With the technology, brain power and ingenuity we have in the US there's no good reason we shouldn't be driving vehicles that don't use fossil fuel. I sure hope Detroit wises up and breaks their allegiance with big oil and begins to persue the proper R&D to deliver a viable vehicle alternative that's effecient and affordable. Until now there hasn't been a big incentive. Once you hit middle America in the wallet you'll get a reaction. Here in the US fuel of almost every type has been very cheap.Historically the rest of the world has payed a much higher premium for fuel. We've been insulated unitl lately.

Too bad it's taken such a kick in the head to get this country thinking greener.

Sorry for the rant but I feel better.

Here's something interesting I found on CNET today:

Ford Transit Connect Goes Electric In 2010

Funny you post this Robert, I took pictures of it at the Detroit auto show, it's very cool little truck, bummer it's a ford though....LOL...

I may have to add one to my garage and use the little Smarty for fun

Hi,

Being in the UK the Ford Connect is everywhere. A couple of years ago I looked into buying one. I had a good look round it and it seemed plenty big enough for me to roll the Magliner in and have it racked for kit. It was only until my son pointed out that it looked very similar to the van a popular UK kids TV show character drives that I decided that two seats wasn't enough and the VW Transporter was the way to go......

check it out....
