need to round out my Archer

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've owned an Archer for about 5 months now, and I feel that soon I will start working the rig for projects other than my own. Quick question: what should I make sure I have with my package, and who might have those pieces for sale.

Please keep in mind that this will be corporate video (not film) - so there's def. a quality/price level to keep in mind.

Some items I am looking for:

-wireless follow focus

-video transmitter/receiver

-low mode kit

-vehicle mount

I have the Archer... vest, sled and arm... but that's about it right now.

Thanks

Tony,

I would search the forum, most of your answers can be found under the sub topics. Here is what I would look at:

Bartech Follow Focus=http://bartechengineering.com/ (Do I get a free Iris tx/rx for this plug, Jim?)

Wireless video= www.crampedattic.com

maybe modulus 4000 if it is available

Low mode: if money is an option Flip the rig upside down and flip image in post

I would get the first two before buying low mode

Vehicle: never used one so can't say, but I would search the forum.

Good Luck,

BT

Thanks for the info...

I'm looking into buying a low mode kit - only $400... not so much.

The vehicle mount also is fairly much in range... $1050.

However, the wireless follow focus is in the range of ??? $5K??? That's a bit steep.

Also, anyone have idea or used video zoom control? I have one for my HVX200, but need one for the ikegami. Any advice for the video transmitter would also be great.

Thanks,

T

Tony,

5k will get you a BFD and an M-One and that will work nicely. From there it just gets more expensive.

Check zoe/bebob for the zoom control.

this might be what you are looking for.

P.S. you can easily spend what you spent for the rig in EXTRAS!

Good luck finding what you need.

Tony,

I have owned an archer for a couple of years now. Because it is only 12 volt, I assume you will be doing mostly video.

One of the first things I got was some custom weights for the base of the sled. It is very difficult to balance the sled with a full size camera. You need at least a a hytron 140 at the base, you have to invert the battery holder and it will not dynamic balance. I had several custom weights made that slip over the rods on the battery mount. I found this was the only way I could dynamically balance the sled. Good luck.
