Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted March 2, 2008 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 2, 2008 Ya so what about my antiquated i-500 Samsung Palm Phone . . .I still like it ok . . . don't make fun . . . That is by far the coolest, and smallest, Palm based phone ever made! I have one on my desk in front of me. Unfortunately, I also have a Treo 700 charging right next to it (had to switch providers, and Verizon doesn't support the i500). I think you just need to download (and pay for) a text program to insure that you can identify who's texting you. If that doesn't work and you need a new phone, contact me and we'll see if mine works for you. You can have it if you need it. I really miss using mine! Brad, thanks for the offer, Everyone makes fun of me for sticking with the i-500 phone, including Robert . . .LOL . . .but like you said, it's still the coolest Palm Phone ever! But . . . .it has been failing me lately and both batteries are now held on with Gaf tape . . .I have to sync it every week in fear of losing data . . . .I'm trying to hold out but it's getting harder and harder. What program is it that would allow me to see the information on my text messages. I have a program that allows me to respond but it's way involved and antiquated . . .I can't believe I'm having this conversation . . .LOL . . .hahahahahaha Rob "Unwilling to Cave" Vuona
Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted March 3, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 3, 2008 Here are a couple of links. The first one is probably your best bet. http://i500.nopdesign.com/apps.esiml http://samsung.handmark.com/i500.php Hey, if you want my phone just let me know. It's in great shape except for a dent or two. It's also recently been covered in a layer of Lisigav (much better reception)....which is nice. God, I feel like I'm selling you the damn thing. Just come and take it if you want it.
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted March 4, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 4, 2008 pretty funny -- I had the kyocera palm/smart phone for many years -- very similar me thinks. I too was made fun of for sticking with this phone. I finally went to the treo a year ago. Sprint blows (it has for me). I miss verizon (I guess absense does make the heart grow fonder). rb
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted March 4, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 4, 2008 I love that this conversation started with a picture of a scantily clad model and then became about arcane cell phones. We are such a bunch of tech geeks. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted March 6, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 6, 2008 pretty funny -- I had the kyocera palm/smart phone for many years rb Yeah, but that thing was gigantic! Even bigger than the Treo! The i500 is a Palm flip phone that isn't much bigger than a Razr. OK, I'll stop lobbying for it now... SprintruledVerizonsucks Hey Brad, Not sure if I got back to you, again way of topic, but thank you for the offer for the i-500 phone, if mine goes south before I figure out how to use the i-phone with Sprint you'll be the first call

Premium Members Daniel Stilling DFF Posted March 7, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 7, 2008 With the risk of being shot by the "off topic" police, you can unlock the iPhone with a really risky and complicated process, but you can only use T-Mobile. The iPhone is a GSM phone, and the only GSM carriers in the US ate T-Mobile and ATT. I don't like ATT too much, but the iPhone is well worth few dropped calls... Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted March 7, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 7, 2008 has Sprint been really good to you? rb They were when I was with them. I could talk all the way over the hill, and very rarely hit a bad patch anywhere in town. I switched providers because I moved and my Sprint phone didn't get service at my apartment. Everyone said, "Oh, Verizon will get service there!" Well, they were wrong for the most part. I literally HAVE to put my phone on speakerphone any time I'm on it in my apt. If I put the phone to my head it drops the call every time. And my service is generally worse with Verizon than it was with Sprint everywhere I go. AND Verizon is more expensive. So, yeah, Sprint was much better for me.
