I've never seen Ted's A Day In The Life Of A Steadicam Operator. My understanding is that he nails it. Anyone have it? Peter Abraham New York Hi everyone Ted was a great writer for me one of his best works was the April ,May 1983 (American Cinematographer) Steadicam "An Operator's Perspective" part 1 and 2 also his insight into the world of film making in Tom Mcdonough book "Light Years Confessions of a cinematographer " (there is a shot of Ted on the cover with his 3a ) another great read . As for the long lost video I would have to say I have most of them but this is the first time I had read about it Garrett should have a copy one hopes ?? It's pretty great, especially since he's nowhere near the Steadicam the whole time! Hi Charles You could be on to something A new spin STEADICAM RELICS ?? What are some of special relics you have (in your roofs /basements) photos objects etc How has the oldest sled ,arm ,vest , focus control etc ,etc, As Garrett put the Iron age (steadicam Letters ) There is a fantastic shot in V2No1 June89 of Garrett and a Relic from Sri Lanka ? What are the holy grails of steadicam .The long lost tape?? Garrett Brown signed LP copy of "Steadi blues" or what ever it was called .I saw it on ebay some time ago ? Let see where this leads us . Premium Members Brad Hruboska Posted August 1, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 1, 2006 Its funny because that video of truth in advertising was done for a commercial awards show around '99 or so, and I was on the site shooting for the Av presentation, in Toronto, and I recall there were great laughs form Some audience members and others looking very miffed at the portrayal of their trades.
